Project Summary

In this case study, I created an animated prototype of the Kantar Retail IQ website. My goal was to highlight the enhanced personalization tools utilizing Kantar’s existing brand standards by walking the viewer through the website using a laptop and mobile device in 3D space. The result is a modern animation that was used for product promotion.

Role

UI Motion Designer/3D Animator

Client

Kantar Retail IQ - Rightpoint

Date

Project Objective

Create an animated prototype highlighting Kantar Retail IQ’s enhanced personalization tools through a detailed and personalized experience in a 3D space.

Research

I did research into Kantar’s current brand guidelines so I could make my animation consistent with existing marketing materials. There was not much motion I could use as reference for the ui animation so I reverted to my knowledge of other ui elements I have animated in the past using standard best pratices. The 3D elements were designed by the team using stock photography with the site composited onto the laptop and mobile device. The client also wanted to highlight 3 major areas with this video:

  • Zoomed-in visuals guide viewers through the features.

  • Benefit summary highlights the site’s value.

  • Lean into the enhanced personalization that resonated with clients.

For the 3D animation I was initially going to use Element 3D directly in After Effects to animate the camera but decided to use Cinema 4D instead because of the detailed controls of camera movement

Final Concept

The final animated prototype highlighted all the benefits of using Kantar Retail IQ in a slick 3D animated environment that shows the features of the tool while seamlessly transitioning to the mobile device showing how tightly integrated the tools are across any device.

Project Conclusions

Moving forward, the motion elements I used for the prototype were used as a start point for the development team when building the website. The video was also shared across various social media channels.
